Chiefs Place Sanders Commings On Injured Reserve
By Ben Nielsen
The Kansas City Chiefs announced they have place Sanders Commings on injured reserved. It is believed he has been put on the season-ending list and has not been designated as a player who could return.
Commings was a fifth round draft pick in the 2013 who has thought to be part of the solution for the Chiefs at safety. He has tremendous speed and is known for his quality hands. Unfortunately he has not been able to stay on the field, suffering four separate significant injuries in his time with the Chiefs.
It will be interesting to see how the Chiefs move forward with Commings after the season. He is still under control with the team for two more seasons but he has barely seen the field in a Chiefs uniform. With all of the draft picks the Chiefs are going to have next year it leads one to wonder if John Dorsey will be looking for a replacement for Commings on the roster. Yes, he has promise but promise means little if one is always injured.
With Commings out it likely means a guy like Daniel Sorensen is going to make the team. He has been starting in place of Eric Berry, who has missed the entire preseason with a foot injury. Malcolm Bronson has been unable to unseat Sorensen throughout training camp and the preseason.
