ERIC FISHER WAS BETTER

For all of the disasters that occurred on the offensive line Saturday, Eric Fisher had his best preseason game of the season. In 51 snaps – a number that equals the amount of snaps he participated in during the first two preseason games combine – Fisher was in a blocking situation 34 time and did not allow the quarterback to be sacked or hit.

By no means was Fisher’s game perfect. He did a allow two hurries and his total grade for the game should be considered average. But in a game where Fisher needed to show he could hold his own on the left side of the line and do so against good competition, Fisher did just that.

Fisher is coming off of two offseason surgeries, did not participate in most of OTA’s, and was held back in a lot of different things during training camp. He is adjusting to a new body, the left side of the line, and to playing with a new guard. This isn’t the recipe for extreme success, and maybe some of the blame for Fisher’s slow development should be put on the way he has been handled over the last 15 months. With that said, Fisher at least showed progress in a good direction Saturday. Kansas City desperately needed that.
