Practice Squad Prospects: Junior Hemingway

Frankie Hammond has been on the field and Junior Hemingway has not. And in Hammond’s time on the field he has done nothing but make a loud and resounding case he deserves to be on the roster. Meanwhile, Hemingway is off tending to yet another leg injury.

Hemingway’s saving grace may be Bowe’s suspension for week one when it comes to making this team. For now I’m going to predict the roster as if Bowe’s suspension didn’t exist, but it is something to keep in mind for week one. Kansas City has a decent chance of keeping Hemingway on the roster for one week, letting him go after the first game and having him clear waivers, and then adding him to the practice squad. The addition of the two new practice squad roster spots and the new rules that go with them make this a possibility.

Weston Dressler has yet to prove anything on the field and it wouldn’t be a surprise to me if he ends up getting his walking papers. He’s seen only 14 snaps this preseason and 10 of them have been in run blocking situations. The fourth preseason game is where he is going to have to make he case that he deserves either one of the last spots on the roster or a spot on the practice squad.

*Potential Week One Bowe replacement.
