Optimism should be growing around the Chiefs tight end situation. Both Fasano and Kelce have shown what it is they can provide to an offense that allows the Chiefs to be effective as a unit. Even without the services of Jamaal Charles and a shaky pass protection on Sunday the Chiefs didn’t have much of a problem moving the ball against what is a very good Carolina Panthers defense.

Finishing drives was an issue on Sunday, however, and that’s where the next step has to be with this group. Yes, having Jamaal on the field changes the who dynamic of how the Chiefs will approach red zone situations but guys like Fasano and Kelce have to step up in that area of the field. Kelce has shown his big play ability and Fasano has shown his reliability, but the two of them need to be able to carry those traits into the red zone if the Chiefs are going to have a successful offense.

Demetruis Harris has been receiving a lot of praise for his development on the practice field but we really have not seen him be much of a contributor in the preseason games. His snaps have been limited so far, seeing the field for only 37 snaps in the first two preseason games. And of those snaps 23 were spent blocking someone on a run or pass play. One would hope Harris will be unleashed a bit in the fourth preseason game so we can hopefully get a glimpse of what we’ve seen in practice.
