The sudden retirement of Steve Gregory managed to make the Chiefs safety competition even less competitive. Kansas City definitely has some issues back there, and injuries to Eric Berry and Sanders Commings are not helping matters.
Fortunately Malcolm Bronson looked very good against Cincinnati, picking off a pass and returning it for a touchdown. He was also a favorable camera angle away from being credited for a second interception. His versatility as a safety and corner could come in handy for a Chiefs team in desperate need of depth.
Daniel Sorensen also had a a good day starting in place of the injured Berry. He recorded a positive PFF grade and a tackle in his first action as a professional. He is still listed ahead of Berry on the depth chart which would seem to indicate he is the clear backup to Berry. Between his special teams abilities and a decent showing running with the starters in game one, it would seem fair to say Sorensen will make the team.
