Howard had himself an excellent day rushing the passer in the Chiefs preseason opener, racking up a sack and three quarterback pressures. He did struggle against the run, according to PFF, so that could end up being a problem when it comes to finding him a spot on the team. However, the Chiefs will probably favor pass rush over run stopping when it comes to coin toss situations.
Kyle Love’s injury may also help Howard’s chances of making the roster. Love missed a week of practices and the first preseason game due to an ankle injury. Outside of Love, there really isn’t any other competition for the sixth roster spot.
