2. Big Day For Demetrius Harris

From one tight end to the next, the Chiefs look like they may have all kinds of weapons at tight end. Harris caught multiple touchdown passes today and made a few other nice plays in today’s practice.

Harris is 6-7 and has the athleticism of a forward in basketball which can be a deadly combination in the NFL if you can hone in the technical skills. With Anthony Fasano and Kelce ahead of him the Chiefs don’t need Harris to be spectacular, what they need is for him to come in and contribute in certain packages and be a factor on special teams.

If you want to dream a little bit with Harris, imagine adding Harris to the line with Fasano and then moving Kelce around as you please. Maybe you line Kelce up as a fullback or moving him out wide, it doesn’t matter. With three guys of 6-5 or better and very athletic on the field and then having someone like De’Anthony Thomas or Jamaal Charles on the field at the same time you are creating some nightmarish mismatches for opposing defenses. Especially in the red zone.

It is because of scenarios like these that I think it is Richard Gordon who is on the trading block and not Fasano. A seventh round pick isn’t enough value to replace what Fasano could add to this offense this year and next, plus the Chiefs have other options to create salary cap space. Kansas City is better with Fasano on the team than they are without him.

And if Harris is going to be a contributor then Kansas City’s offense may be deadly with Fasano and Kelce leading the way at tight end.
