Kansas City Chiefs 53-Man Roster Predictions 1.0
By Ben Nielsen
SECONDARY
Safety: Eric Berry, Husain Abdullah, Sanders Commings (PUP/IR), Daniel Sorensen, Malcolm Bronson, Jerron McMillian
Corner: Marcus Cooper, Ron Parker, Chris Owens, Sean Smith, Phillip Gaines
Cut: Justin Rogers, Kevin Rutland, Steve Gregory, DeMarcus Van Dyke
Practice Squad Candidate: Brandon Jones, Damond Smith, Vernon Kearney
We do not know how long Commings is going to be out with his broken leg so I’ve put him on the PUP or IR so the Chiefs can keep his rights.
The Chiefs need as many bodies as they can get in the secondary, and the Dorsey seems to value speed an youth at those positions when putting together his roster. As a result a guy like Malcolm Bronson probably has a better shot to make the team than a Steve Gregory.
It would not be a surprise to me if the Chiefs do something close to what they did last year when they made several waiver wire moves after the 53-man deadline to add some different players. Marcus Cooper was part of that group last year. If a safety or corner were to find their way onto the waiver wire at the end of August the Chiefs though had an ounce more promise than some of the guys on this list then expect Dorsey to pull the trigger.
