2. Mike DeVito Injures Hand
Mike DeVito left practice early after injuring his hand and is awaiting the results on an x-ray to see if anything is broken. DeVito joins Mike Catapano and Kyle Love as defensive linemen with injuries or illness heading into Thursday’s game. Catapano, one would think, will be out after missing nearly a week’s worth of practices battling the flu. Love injured his ankle on Saturday and sat out today’s practice.
With those three players potentially out for Thursday it gives guys like Jairus Campbell a chance to make an impression as he’ll likely see a lot of snaps on Thursday. Campbell was a tryout player for the Chiefs in May and was obviously impressive enough to get a call after Catapano and Love went down.A good week and the 300 pound Campbell may earn his way to a practice squad spot.
One would think Dontari Poe, Vance Walker, and Allen Bailey will not see too much action against Cincinnati, which would leave the Chiefs with about five healthy linemen left to play out the final 35-40 minutes of the game. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the Chiefs added one more body in the next couple of days.
