Eric Berry left practice yesterday and missed practice today with what has been described as a right heel injury. The cure involves a few days of rest and then he should be fine, according to the Chiefs.
Berry scared everyone yesterday when he left practice early and was “carted” to the medical tent. Injuries to Sanders Commings and Marcus Cooper earlier brought about doomsday scenarios for fans who have watched the Chiefs secondary struggle in the first two weeks of training camp. Without Berry the Chiefs secondary would have gone from bad to disaster in a hurry.
Fortunately, Berry appears to be okay. He was at practice but not suited up and was walking without a limp, according to Herbie Teope. Marcus Cooper also returned to practice today after his hamstring scare and participated fully. So in a matter of 24 hours mass panic turned into questions about what the Chiefs should do to add depth to the secondary. Questions are far easier to deal with than panic.
In other injury news from practice, Mike DeVito injured his leg and practice and missed a little bit of time. He did return to practice, however.
Dee Ford also walked off the field for a little bit after hurting his leg. There were no immediate indications his injury was serious but it is something to keep an eye on.
Demetrius Harris missed practice for personal reasons and was excused from practice by the team.
