Kansas City Chiefs: Sanders Commings To Have Surgery On Broken Ankle
By Ben Nielsen
Jamaal Charles has broken Sanders Commings ankle.
Andy Reid announced today Commings will have surgery on a broken bone in his ankle. The bone was broken while Commings was trying to make a tackle on Charles during practice yesterday. There is no timetable on when Commings will return.
Here are some tweets to source the information above:
Much was anticipated from Commings this season after he missed all of last year (minus a few snaps) due to injury. Kansas City was counting on his speed and ball skills to be the “centerfield-type” safety the team needs in order to run Bob Sutton’s defensive scheme. Unfortunately Commings has been hurt all of training camp, minus yesterday which is when he suffered his most recent injury. The guy simply cannot stay healthy.
With Commings out for an indefinite period of time and some other injuries to the secondary, Daniel Sorensen and Jerron McMillian should be seeing more snaps at safety in the near future. Sorensen ran with the first team defense when Eric Berry went down with a minor ankle injury in today’s practice.
