Kansas City Chiefs: Eric Berry Has A Sore Ankle, Severity Is Unknown

Eric Berry left practice early today due to an ankle injury according to Andy Reid. The actual injury to the ankle is unknown but there is a sense the injury is not severe.

When the injury occurred, observers suggested it didn’t look like Berry’s injury was serious. He walked off the field under his own power and put his cleats back on after trainers looked over his ankle.

Given the injury news about Sanders Commings and the loss of Marcus Cooper to a hamstring injury, the Chiefs cannot afford to lose Berry. Not that they could afford to lose Berry as it were, but Kansas City is literally running out of bodies to play in the secondary.

Kansas City plays their first preseason game one week from today, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Chiefs made a move to add something to the roster at safety or corner. It may just be a minor “camp body” move but the Chiefs could desperately use said players so they do not have to risk rushing Berry and Cooper back to the field.
