DEE FORD
Q: How’s it feeling out there?
FORD: “I’m feeling great, man. Feeling great, getting back into the groove for when the vets come. It’s really a great opportunity to get some extra reps before the vets get here. That way the transition won’t be so hard. It’s going to be faster and anytime I can catch up on some installs it’s great.”
Q: Have these first few practices been a challenge for you or are you finding ways to challenge yourself?
FORD: “Both. It’s always going to be challenging at practice; this is definitely a different league. This is the NFL so practice is challenging, but you also want to challenge yourself. I had two things I wanted to work on today which were my leverages and a little bit of things in coverage and not really rushing the passer as much right now, just getting more savvy in coverage.”
AA: First, I love Dee Ford. Love him.
Second, it is good to hear the coaching staff has already gotten a message through to Ford that he needs to improve in pass coverage. The quicker he can become stable in those situations, the more he can be on the field in his rookie season.
Q: Have you thought about those other pass rushers like Tamba (Hali), Justin (Houston)?
FORD: “I think about it all the time. This is pass-rush city. I’m very excited. It’s going to be very fun. I can’t wait to see them. I’m going to give them a big hug when I see them—all of them.”
Q: What do the coaches want to see from you this training camp?
FORD: “I think what they want to see from any rookie is maturity and growing from OTAs and to mini camps and the little break until now. They want to see growth.”
AA: Seriously, I love this guy. Love. Him.
