JEFF JANIS

A big-bodied, fast wide receiver, Janis would provide an outside receiver development project that the Chiefs currently do not have on the roster. You may remember him from this post a before the draft from Merlin.

Janis stands at 6-3, 219 pounds, and ran a 4.42 40 at the NFL Combine. He has small hands that cause some inconsistency, but he dominated his competition in Division II despite is physical flaw. With a year of teaching, Janis could turn into the outside receiver threat the Chiefs need opposite of Dwayne Bowe.

Janis was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round. This poses an interesting situation as the Packers are already loaded at wide receiver. Will the Packers keep a spot on the roster for him or try to sneak him through waivers to put on their practice squad?

It should be noted that Jordy Nelson is a free agent next season and may not return to the team. As a result the Packers are going to need some developmental guys to plug in if they cannot keep Nelson. This is something to keep in mind while tracking Janis.
