Chiefs Fans Raise Big Bucks For Derrick Johnson’s Charity

A quick follow-up to Derrick Johnson’s Celebrity Waiter Night from earlier in the week.
A press release from Johnson’s foundation, Defend The Dream, announced Johnson’s fundraising event raised $90,000 on Monday night.
"Through their semi-good waiting skills, and delicious food and drink, the Kansas City Chiefs raised over $90,000 to benefit Johnson’s Defend the Dream Foundation.“I’m not surprised,” said Johnson. “This is what we’re about. Every time there’s a chance to give back, we jump on it. I support my teammates and they support me.”"
Money from the event is pinned to be used for event such as “Geared Up!,” a program that purchases school supplies, clothes, and backpacks for low-income students. Johnson is very focused on helping kids get an quality education.
"“Education is important,” Johnson said. “Giving kids the opportunity to better their lives is important. That’s what we’re trying to do here.”"
