John Dorsey did a one-on-one interview with Mitch Holthus on KCChiefs.com. A few quotes and notes.
Dorsey on free agency:
"We’ve lost a number of free agents but we’ve tried to make them up in certain periods of free agency. I think the gentlemen we’ve brought in here are good teammates, guys with character, guys who play the game the right way. I feel good about their ability to compete and the depth they give us."
Dorsey on trading down in the draft:
"As the course of the draft goes on if there is a favorable moment to trade back and get some picks, we’ll consider that, we’ll do that. But we’ll never pass up a really good player either."
Dorsey also notes the depth at wide receiver and cornerback, with players he likes going into the seventh round. He also said the word “depth” a lot.
The interview isn’t very long but it give a decent snapshot into the mind of Dorsey. There was a small hint in there about trading down where he talks about listening to opportunities at all rounds in the draft. So while the Chiefs may not trade down from the first round, rounds three, four, five, and six are not off the table. With the way he view wide receiver and cornerback, adding some late picks wouldn’t be a bad idea.
