Players Currently On The Roster:

Eric Fisher (starter)
Donald Stephenson (starter)
Jeff Linkenbach?
RJ Dill
Colin Kelly

Would the Chiefs be okay if they started the season with just the players they currently have?

No. While more attention is being paid to the possible opening at starting RG, the OT depth is a major concern as well. Fisher and Stephenson are solid starters, but if one of them went down the next best option at tackle is unspectacular veteran Jeff Linkenbach who’s natural position is guard.

Would the Chiefs prefer to get an upgraded starter at this position?

No. I think KC is fine with Fisher and Stephenson being their starting tackles. That having been said, I don’t think KC is committed to Stephenson like they are Fisher so if an upgrade was available they might consider it.

Are the Chiefs in need of adding depth or a long term replacement player at this position?

Yes. The Chiefs desperately need to restock their offensive line depth after losing three of their top seven linemen in free agency. Depth at offensive tackle is second only to finding a new starting RG. While they don’t need to spend a top pick on this position, look for them to draft a tackle in the mid to late rounds.
