Ed Reynolds is physical, strong, smart, and has ballhawking skills. Well at least he showed those things in college.

The question with Reynolds is whether or not his game translates to the NFL. He’s not considered to be an excellent athlete and didn’t do anything at the combine to suggest otherwise. Rang likes his athleticism, however, so there is someone on his side in that regard.

Reynolds makes sense for the Chiefs should he fall to the backend of the third day. He has good size to match up with tight ends, but is limited to what he can do with receivers. He profiles as the kind of guy who could step into the strong safety spot and play smart football while Eric Berry is running around doing his thing. That may be all Kansas City is looking for so in that regard he is a fit.

Rang on Reynolds:

"Physical and instinctive. Demonstrates good agility and acceleration to handle covering athletic tight ends out of the slot as well as supply deep help over the top. Reads the action and moves fluidly, showing a nice late burst to close on the ball and terrific vision and open-field running ability once he possesses it. Understands his role as the last line of defense and generally takes excellent angles in pursuit."

CBS projects Reynolds as a fourth round draft pick.
