Whatever dream of Jeremy Maclin coming to Kansas City that existed is now dead.
WR Jeremy Maclin and Eagles have reached agreement on a one-year deal, per source.

Jeremy Maclin's one-year deal is worth a max of $6 million.

Maclin also gets more than $3 million guaranteed from the Eagles, who are supremely confident in his rehab.

Maclin would have been a solid fit for the Chiefs, who need as much wide receiver help as they can get. However, there are some questions whether or not the Chiefs would have actually made a run at him.
Until WR Jeremy Maclin reached agreement with Philadelphia on a 1-year deal, Jets and Broncos were preparing to make a run at him.

It is very interesting the Chiefs were not mentioned in that tweet, especially since KC would have been the first call Schefter would have made regarding Maclin. Both John Dorsey and Andy Reid said at the NFL Scouting Combine last week they did not anticipate spending a lot of money in free agency this year, and they may be dead serious about that.
As things stand now, the Chiefs are about to lose Geoff Schwartz, Jon Asamoah, Branden Albert, Dexter McCluster, and others in less than two weeks. Rumors are already circulating about Asamoah landing with either the Atlanta Falcons or New York Giants, while Schwartz supposedly has multiple teams interested in him from the combine. There have been no indications – at least not yet – the Chiefs are trying to re-sign either. Same goes for McCluster, and we already know Albert is as good as gone.
So what exactly is the Chiefs’ plan if all of these guys leave via free agency? Obviously the Chiefs are going to have to sign someone as they only have six picks in the draft, but things are staring to get a little more unclear the closer we get to March 11.
