Round 7
Pick No. 207 – Mike Catapano, DE, Princeton
Grade: B-
2014 Cap Hit: $520,281
Dead money if cut: $51,843
The ivy league lineman was a pleasant surprise this season. He hardly saw the field, but when he did, he seemed to make an impact. He ended the year with four tackles and a sack. Yes, he was the responsible for the 10th sack on Terrell Pryor during the Chiefs Week 6 match up against the Raiders.
With Tyson Jackson likely walking away in free agency, there will be need for defensive linemen to at least start the process. Catapano is a very workable player. He has a low cap hit so he’s easy to hang on to, and if he doesn’t work out and the Chiefs need the roster spot, he has a low dead money hit if the team needs to dump him.
