Players spoke about the upcoming matchup against Jacksonville at today’s media session, and a common theme quickly emerged: Winning.

Dwayne Bowe may have had the quote of the day after he was asked about catching short passes, being expected to gain yards after the catch, and if he “enjoyed that kind of thing.” His answer was priceless:

"“I enjoy winning. I enjoy whatever it takes to win the game, if that means me making a block down the field for Jamaal (Charles) or even catching a ball one yard out and going 50 (yards), it’s all the same if we’re winning, everybody is happy.”"

This sounds like a guy who is sick and tired of losing.

Another bite from Bowe in regard to catching short passes, and running after the catch:

"“It’s a big part of our offense. Our coach, Coach (David) Culley, stays on us about catching, digging and finishing. That’s where the big plays come in, the short passes. You can turn the short pass into an 80-yard completion. It’s all about will power and all wanting to do it. You have to have the tools on offense to win.”"

Backup RB Knile Davis was asked if he was excited about his first game in the NFL. His answer?

"“Yeah, I’m really excited. Anything I can do to help the team get a win, I’m ready.”"

The desire to win was first and foremost on the team’s mind on Friday. It may seem obvious. Of course they want to win the game. But there seems to be an extra emphasis on winning above all else.

This team is hungry for a win. Let’s see if they can go get one.
