According to multiple tweets from training camp, Kansas City Chiefs’ star running back Jamaal Charles had to be carted off the field.
Before we jump to any conclusions, let’s take a look at the plethora of tweets regarding to situation to perhaps get a clearer picture of what is going on in St. Joseph, Mo.
END OF UPDATE–
Doug Stewart of 810 WHB was the first to Tweet that something could have been wrong with Charles:
Stewart doesn’t make it sound horrible, but that’s still the last thing Chiefs fans want to hear. Outside of Alex Smith, there is no player more crucial to Kanas City’s offensive success in 2013 than Charles.
Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star tweeted that Charles was headed to the medical tent.
That’s a step in the wrong direction, but then it got worse, per Teicher:
Take a minute to freak out, but don’t worry too much addicts. Collect yourself, and let’s figure out what really happened here. After the initial hoopla died down, Matt Miller of Bleacher Report cited a Chiefs sources saying that they think it’s just precautionary:
In a tweet before Miller said he got a text from camp saying that it looks like a leg issue for Charles.
From what I can gather, Charles is banged up (you don’t get carted off for no reason), but it doesn’t appear to be anything serious. It appears as if coach Andy Reid is taking a rather precautionary approach to injuries this preseason, so until further notice, there’s no reason to believe it’s anything other than that.
With that said, we’ll keep you updated.
