Kansas City Chiefs NT Dontari Poe is a big man but he is making sure his size this season comes from lean proteins and not delicious Kansas City BBQ.

Poe,who has dropped some weight, has been having a very solid camp and told reporters today he feels like he is moving better.

“Yeah, I mean experience comes to me and knowing what’s going on,” said Poe. “Personally I think I’m moving better and taking more snaps, so it’s all positive for me.”

So what has Poe been eating to help him stay “slim?”

“I eat a lot of eggs in the morning,”Poe said. “I eat a lot of protein – grilled chicken, grilled fish and stuff like that. I’m trying to cut out eating pork and stay away from fried food and barbeque and all of that.”

Poe was asked how long he has been “off the sauce” and he said it has been about three weeks…and that it hasn’t been easy.

“Off the barbeque? I think three weeks since I’ve broke, today at camp. So, it’s been a long time. But, like I said, I feel it. I feel better since I’ve been off of it.”

Poe said he has lost about 15-20 pounds. That means he’s gone from 350 to around 335.

Despite the slimmer figure, Poe said he hasn’t lost any strength and still lift the same amount he did before he dropped the pounds.

I am all for a slightly slimmer Poe. He is still a big, fast, strong, load of a man. If being a few pounds lighter can make him quicker off the snap and more explosive, he might have more success collapsing the pocket this season.

What do you think, Addicts? Will Dontari be able to lay off the Oklahoma Joe’s?
