The Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly signed UFA Jordan Roberts, a running back from the University of Charleston.
The Chiefs continue to add bodies to their stable of running backs which is growing by the minute. The excited Roberts broke the news on his own Twitter feed earlier.
Of all the UFA’s, I keep the closest eye on the running backs. It seems more hidden talent is found in those late round running backs and guys who go undrafted than any other position. Roberts put together quite the senior campaign last season, racking up over 1,500 yards on the ground and finding paydirt 18 times. Add to that the 450 receiving yards he had as well as another 3 scores and I think Roberts is a pretty solid signing by the Chiefs’ front office.
Again, the thing to keep in mind with UFAs is they are camp bodies first, designed to make the guys already on the roster better. However, as head coach Andy Reid pointed out in his post draft press conference, for some of them, it’s a try out and they end up making the squad because they impress a coach enough to give them a shot. Sometimes it’s all they need.
What do you think, Addicts? Did the Chiefs’ front office just discover the next Arian Foster?
