The Kansas City Chiefs took a trip to the free agent market today and decided to pick up CB Sean Smith.
Now we’re finding out how much he cost.
According to Jason Cole, of Yahoo! Sports, the deal is for three years with $11 million guaranteed.
$18 million, eh? That is exactly what the Chiefs gave Stanford Routt last offseason. Though Routt’s deal only has $6 million in guarantees.
Hopefully this signing will work out better than Routt’s.
The Chiefs also signed former Atlanta Falcon’s CB Dunta Robinson. The Chicago Sun-Times reported that Robinson’s deal was three-years and is worth $15 million. He is reportedly getting only $4 million in guarantees and his contract is backloaded with a low cap hit.
That makes it sound like the plan is for Smith to start opposite Brandon Flowers.
What do you think, Addicts? Did the Chiefs pay too much for their new #2 corner or did they get it just right?
