NFL free agency doesn’t start until tomorrow but the rumor mill is in full swing.

According to Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com reports that the Chiefs are interested in DE Jason Jones.

Jones was a second round pick in 2008 by the Tennessee Titans. He played for the Seahawks last season before landing on IR with a banged up knee.

The Chiefs have been looking into DEs. They are reportedly trying to re-sign Glenn Dorsey but have also worked out former New York Giant, Chris Canty.

Jones played limited snaps for the Seahawks through Week 15 last year. He logged 332 snaps and Pro Football Focus graded him +5.1 overall with a +7.7 pass rushing mark. PFF credits Jones for 10 QB hurries and four sacks.

The Chiefs could certainly use some pass rushing specialists along the defensive line. Even if the team retains Dorsey and continues to pair him with Jackson, neither player has been particularly successful at getting to the QB.

We have no way to know how the Chiefs intend to use their defensive lineman in new defensive coordinator Bob Sutton’s defense but there is a chance KC could use some 4-3 alinements, which might mean a player like Dorsey could slide inside to accommodate a player like Jones on the end.
