Chiefs Comment On Dustin Colquitt

The Kansas City Chiefs made some big news today by making punter Dustin Colquitt the highest paid punter in the NFL.
The team released some comments on the deal and both GM John Dorsey and head coach Andy Reid weighed in.
John Dorsey:
"We are excited that we were able to come to a long-term agreement with Dustin and keep him in Kansas City. Dustin is an elite punter in this league, he’s done a great job for this franchise the past eight seasons, and we are looking forward to working with him."
Andy Reid:
"John and I knew right away that we’d like to keep Dustin in a Chiefs uniform. He’s worked hard at his craft and has become one of the best punters in the NFL. He’s got a strong leg and the ability to pin opponents deep in their own territory. We are happy we were able to come to an agreement."
Colwuitt earned this. For years he has been one of the best in the NFL at pinning teams inside the 20. While other kickers got more attention for their high average yards-per-punt numbers, Colquitt sacrificed notoriety to ensure better field position for his team. This is an aspect of Colquitt’s game his coaches have pointed out in the past.
Finall, this season, Colquitt was recognized by being selected to his first Pro Bowl.
And now the Chiefs have recognized Colquitt by compensating him for his skills.
