It appears as though the Kansas City Chiefs are showing a little love to their fans this Valentine’s Day by allowing some interesting information to leak out, spicing up an otherwise dull February.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Kansas City Chiefs are actively trying to re-sign free agent-to-be, WR Dwayne Bowe.

Bowe played under the franchise tag last season and while the team has the ability to tag him once again this year, Rapoport says the Chiefs are in serious talks to bring Bowe back long-term.

"Ian Rapoport reported Thursday night on NFL Network’s “NFL Total Access” that the Kansas City Chiefs are actively pursuing a new contract with Bowe, according to sources close to the situation. Bowe’s representatives have met with the Chiefs, and Rapoport expects conversations to continue in the coming weeks. This is a bit of a surprise, but perhaps it shouldn’t be. This is a brand new Chiefs regime that clearly could view Bowe in a different light than former general manager Scott Pioli, who didn’t appear willing to give Bowe the long-term deal that he wanted. Rapoport reports that Andy Reid was very high on Bowe coming out of LSU."

This is spectacular news for Chiefs fans. Bowe is clearly the best receiver on the Chiefs’ roster and he has shown the ability to play well despite the very mediocre parade of QBs that he has the pleasure of playing with.

The Chiefs have plenty of cap space and it is important that they keep as many productive players as possible. Nothing is set in stone yet, but the fact that reports are emerging that the Chiefs do want Bowe to return is an excellent sign.

Are you guys excited that the new regime wants to keep Dwayne Bowe?
