Chiefs Sign WR Mardy Gilyard
Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports
The Kansas City Chiefs have signed free agent WR Mardy Gillyard. Gilyard posted about the signing on his Twitter account, though the team has yet to confirm.
Gilyard was selected 99th overall by the Rams in the 2010 NFL draft. He has since bounced from the Rams to the Jets and the Eagles but has failed to catch on.
Obviously Chiefs head coach Andy Reid saw something he liked in Gilyard during his time in Philly and has decided to give him a shot in KC.
Gilyard isn’t particularly fast, only running a 4.6 forty. He also sports poor size at 6-0, 187. Unless he is able to develop into a very precise route runner, he will likely to continue struggling at the NFL level.
The Chiefs are adding a lot of low end, developmental talent right now so I wouldn’t read took much into this move. Still, this could give us a peak into the kind of receivers Reid is interested in, which could be good news for Dexter McCluster.
Did any of you like Gilyard coming out of the draft?
