Kansas City Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel addressed the media today as the team prepares for its game Sunday against the Oakland Raiders.

There are some interesting notes to pass along, particularly at the WR position.

-Crennel would not say whether WR Dwayne Bowe is finished for the season. Bowe is out for this Sunday but the Chiefs are still waiting on some test results before making an official decision.

-With Bowe being out, Crennel was asked about WR Steve Breaston’s status. Breaston has been inactive the last couple of weeks.

“He needs to show that he has a great understanding of the game plan and he can execute the game plan,” Crennel said. “If he can do that, then he can be in uniform.”

Crennel would not say whether Breaston would be active this weekend.

I don’t get it. Breason doesn’t know the offense? I thought the reason he had been inactive was simply that he had about seven catches in the nine games that he was active. Sure, he doesn’t have the best QBs throwing to him but event Jon Baldwin is doing better than that.

Breaston responded in an interview via photojournalist @heycameraman.

“I don’t think it’s been expressed to me. I understand the offense. They may feel a different way then so be it. You can’t fight city hall. I go out there and work. Maybe better understand the offense is not going out there and being a decoy and things like that. Maybe me wanting the ball and things like that, I get upset about that, but I understand this offense. Maybe I’ll find out in the meetings what that really means.”

Adam Teicher of the KC Star later tweeted that Breaston doesn’t think he’ll play Sunday. Teicher also said that Breaston says he knows the offense.

The whole situation is weird. I don’t know why Crennel said anything in response to the Breaston question. He really had no way to answer it without throwing Breaston under the bus.

So much for the whole “Killer B’s” thing, huh?
