Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports is reporting that the Chiefs have placed DE Glenn Dorsey on IR. This move not only puts an end to Dorsey’s season, but likely his time with the Chiefs. A quote from La Canfora:

"Dorsey has likely played his last game for the team with his season now over ………The sides are not working on an extension."

Frankly, it’s not a big loss for the Chiefs. Not only has his replacement, Ropati Pitoitua, been outperforming him, but the Chiefs also just signed Shaun Smith, who was a solid 3-4 DE for KC in Crennel’s system a couple years ago. I like Dorsey as a run stopper, but he has shown zero pass rush for KC and most seem to think he should go to a team running a 4-3 where he can play DT. Dorsey was the #5 overall pick for the Chiefs in 2008.

So what do you think, Addicts? Is Glenn Dorsey done in KC? Will you miss him?

UPDATE: Word is that DB Neiko Thorpe will be promoted from the practice squad to take Dorsey’s place. This move, while uninspiring, makes sense given that KC cut a DB in Stanford Routt when they signed Shaun Smith who essentially replaces Dorsey in the DL ranks.
