The Kansas City Chiefs face a moment of truth today when they take on the New Orleans Saints. A loss could send the Chiefs into a spiral while a win could start them on the road to turning their season around.
Why the Chiefs are struggling is somewhat curious. They clearly have enough talent to win in the NFL. The problem is the talent hasn’t been performing. I still believe at some point, the talent on this Chiefs team is going to come together. I think the ACL guys will shake off the rust, I think the coaching staff will hit its stride and I think the offense will finally get into a groove running Brian Daboll’s system.
The fact of the matter is, as much as we would all like to think this is the exact same team as 2011, it isn’t.
Will the team finally gel today? In 2011, it was the third game against the Chargers, on the road, that the defense finally tightened up. The Chiefs nearly won that game.
Unfortunately, I think the Saints have too much fire power on offense to lose three games in a row. I hope I am wrong but until the Chiefs show me something on the field, I just can’t predict them to come out on top. I still believe in their talent but they’ll have to make me believe in their play.
