It looks like the Kansas City Chiefs may have signed free agent LB Edgar Jones.
The tip comes from Jones’ agent, who tweeted the news of the signing last night.

The Chiefs have not confirmed the deal so it isn’t official just yet.
We found out that the Chiefs were working Jones out yesterday.
Jones is a journeyman and hasn’t really been able to catch on with an NFL team for an extended period of time. He’ll have his hands full making the squad at linebacker, given the position may be the strongest and deepest of any on the team.
One thing working in Jones’ favor may be his versatility. He’s played both DE and LB, as well as special teams. Chiefs GM Scott Pioli values players that can full multiple roles so if Jones can do at least on of those three things pretty well, he may be able to distinguish himself from the crowd a bit.
If the team has indeed signed Jones then that means a player currently on the roster is either being cut or moving to injured reserve. The news out of camp is that safety Kyle McCarthy has a serious knee injury so this could spell the end of his season.
*Update*
The Chiefs have made the signing official. McCarthy heads to IR. Tough break.
