The Kansas City Chiefs added one more WR with their last pick in the 2012 NFL Draft by selecting Junior Hemingway out of Michigan.
At 6-1, 225 Hemingway has nice size. With a 4.54 40, he isn’t really a burner but demonstrates nice body control. He’s a receiver that does a good job of changing position and can go up for the football.
Here is a bit about Hemingway from Sideline Scouting:
"Great runner after the catch, is able to overpower smaller defenders and is tough to bring down… Elite lateral movement skills; had the fastest three cone and short shuttle times out of all receivers at the combine… Earned the nickname “Big Play Hemingway” in Ann Arbor; great player down the field, averaged over 20 yards per catch as a senior and can go up and make the tough catch… Secures the football well… Good run blocker…"
I love this pick. Hemingway needs to work on his hands but he played in a gimmick offense at Michigan that often switched QBs. I think, given some time and coaching, he can be a solid #3 receiver in the NFL. Maybe even a #2.
