After three straight picks on the offensive side of the ball, the Kansas City Chiefs returned to defense in the fifth round of the 2012 NFL Draft by selecting Alabama CB DeQuan Menzie.
Menzie could project as a backup safety for the Chiefs. His 40 time was slow but it was almost identical to that of current Chiefs safety Kendrick Lewis.
The safety depth in this draft was not believed to be good. The Chiefs selected Lewis in the fifth round a couple of years ago. Hopefully the team has unearthed another gem in Menzie.
