Mike Mayock’s 2012 NFL Mock Draft: Chiefs Pick…

Mike Mayock has released his one and only 2012 NFL Mock Draft. Mayock is one of the most respected draft analysts out there and so everyone always looks forward to his yearly mock.

Mayock’s mock is a bit different than a lot of the mocks we are used to seeing. In many ways it is similar but he definitely shakes things up a bit here and there. Here is how he has things shaking up leading up to KC’s picks.

1. Colts: Andrew Luck
2. Redskins: Robert Griffin III
3. Vikings: Matt Kalil
4. Browns: Justin Blackmon
5. Bucs: Trent Richardson
6. Rams: Morris Claiborne
7. Jags: Melvin Ingram
8. Dolphins: Ryan Tannehill
9. Panthers: Fletcher Cox
10. Bills: Luke Kuechly

11. Chiefs: Mark Barron

Interesting choice. Barron would immediately replace Kendrick Lewis at FS, who a lot of KC fans like. With Kuechly off the board, however, Barron is far and away the best defensive player available. With Peyton Manning coming into the division, Scott Pioli might be keen to add more DBs.

The other interesting aspect of the mock is that Mayock doesn’t have Stanford’s David DeCastro going until the Bengals take him at #21. It could indicate that despite how good DeCastro is supposed to be, the guard depth in this class has Mayock thinking teams might not want to waste a high pick on DeCastro if they think there is better value at the position later.

What do you think, Addicts? Is Barron coming to KC?
