It has been reported that up to 12 teams inquired about Peyton Manning’s services in the last 24 hours.
As of this evening, however, it may be this is a three-horse race.
Omar Kelly of the Sun-Sentinel in Miami tweeted the following earlier today:
"UNLESS there’s some darkhorse team (Denver?) sneaking it, it appears the hunt for Peyton Manning will come down to three teams. Miami, Arizona and Kansas City. Why Kansas City? I have no idea, but that’s the word."
Could it be? The Dolphins, Arizona and KC all make sense to me. If Manning is seriously concerned about playing in the colt weather, however, it could mean that the Chiefs are in third place.
The Chiefs will have to play to their strengths in this one. They’ll need to sell Manning on Dwayne Bowe, Jamaal Charles and their defense. They’ll also need to open up their wallet and not only pay Manning but show him they are ready to make serious moves in free agency to complete the team.
Hang on to your hats and stay tuned.
