Chiefs Have Spoken With Manning Reps, Says Schefter

According to Adam Schefter, the Kansas City Chiefs have spoken with Peyton Manning’s representatives.

It’s on!

KC fans were starting to get frustrated as news poured out that other teams had called Manning. I’ve been urging patience because I knew the Chiefs would keep things a secret as long as possible. Still, I knew if they were interested, the news would eventually leak out, likely from Manning’s camp.

And now it has.

As has been pointed out by this site and many other Chiefs pundits, including Bob Gretz, if the Chiefs are going to go after Manning then they need to go after him. Hard.

Once the Chiefs throw their hat in the ring, they have to go all out. They need to outbid, outclass and outmaneuver all the other potential suitors. The Chiefs can’t afford to strike out on Manning, only to turn the team back over to Matt Cassel.

As I said yesterday, there is no pursuing Peyton Manning half-assed. It’s now or never.
