The Kansas City Chiefs have named Derrick Johnson their team MVP, according to Josh Looney.
This makes a tremendous amount of sense. There were some nice performances all around the defense but DJ was clearly the most consistent player the team had all season.
It’s taken a while but Johnson finally seems to be living up to the expectations KC fans had when the team drafted him in the first round. DJ has always been a solid player but he has taken his game to a new level in the 3-4 defense under Romeo Crennel.
Congrats to DJ. Well deserved.
Johnson figures to be the emotional leader of the defense as the Chiefs enter a new era of defensive football in 2012.
