Bill Cowher Interviews With Chargers, According To Report

According to Mark Cannizzaro of the New York Post, former Pittsburgh Steelers Head Coach Bill Cowher has already interviewed with high-ranking officials in San Diego to become the next head coach of the Chargers.

"I was told this week by an in-the-know source with intimate knowledge of the San Diego sports scene that Cowher already had “an interview’’ with high-ranking people inside the Chargers organization who were gauging his interest and that he expressed his interest in the job should Norv Turner be fired."

There have been conflicting reports about Cowher’s plans now for some time. He has said publicly that he enjoys working in TV and that he has no plans to return to coaching at this time. However, potential coaches often say things like that to avoid creating a media frenzy.

Some have Cowher pegged as a candidate to land in New York should a vacancy open up with the Giants.

As for the Chiefs, Cowher has a past in KC but most believe that he will want power over personnel decisions, something Scott Pioli is unlikely to give him.

One thing is for sure, I’d rather Cowher not land in the AFC West, or the AFC for that matter. The Giants sound like a good fit to me.
