The Kansas City Chiefs have promoted rookie T David Mims to the 53-man roster, the team announced today.

Mims replaces former Baltimore Raven Jared Gaither who, despite high expectations, never seemed to catch on with the coaching staff.

From KCChiefs.com:

"Mims (6-8, 335) spent the first 11 games of the 2011 season on the Chiefs practice squad after entering the NFL as a rookie free agent with the club. He opened 42 games as a four-year starter at Virginia Union, earning All-America honors his final two seasons."

Unless there is an injury I doubt we will be seeing Mims in action any time soon. Steve Maneri is technically ahead of him in the pecking order so he might get the first crack at playing time should Branden Albert or Barry Richardson go down.
