Chiefs Place Charles On IR, Promote Jeremy Horne
As expected, the Kansas City Chiefs have placed pro bowl running back Jamaal Charles on injured reserve with a season-ending ACL injury.
Taking Charles’ roster spot will be WR Jeremy Horne, who has been promoted from the practice squad.
Horne showed some promise last year in the preseason. Unfortunately for Horne, he was placed on IR before he could make much of an impact. In his place, WR Verran Tucker emerged. Tucker made a number of plays on special teams in 2010 and also spent some time at WR.
Tucker seemed to be the favorite to stick around in 2011 because of his 2010 season, however in a somewhat surprising move, the Chiefs decided to keep Horne instead. Tucker was released in the final round of roster cuts and Horne was placed on the practice squad.
It will be interesting to see if Horne can make an impact on KC’s awful passing game. Though with Steve Breaston, Dwayne Bowe and Jerheme Urban all in front of him on the depth chart, I wouldn’t hold your breath.
The Chiefs filled Horne’s spot on the practice squad with OL Lucas Patterson.
