NFL’s Newest Team: The Sharpest Cuts

facebooktwitterreddit

You could actually make a new NFL team out of all of the best players that were cut on Saturday. So, I did. I thought about calling them the Las Vegas Cuts or the Bangor Cold Cuts or some such nonsense but, for now, I’ll just stick with the Sharpest Cuts.

Not sure where they’ll play. Maybe in the new stadium L.A. is going to build.

All of these players are available immediately. Here’s the roster and who knows, maybe some of these “Cuts” will end up on the Chiefs roster.

Offense
QB- Scott Tolzien, had a strong summer for San Diego. This is likely the weakest position on the roster.
RB- Chester Taylor, older but can still pound it.
RB- Jalen Parmele, moving on from the Ravens.
FB- Lousaka Polite, played for Dallas and Miami, 30 yrs. old, very solid.
WR- Sinorice Moss.
WR- Demetrius Williams, 6-2, 202.
WR- Brandon Tate.
OT- Ryan Harris, will have to wait a year while his back heals from surgery but, it will be worth it.
OT- Cliff Lewis, would be the only 1st year starter on this list, cut by the Cards, at 6-8 and 315 he probably goes to their practice squad.
C- Geoff Hangartner, long time Bills vet.
OG- Max Jean-Gilles, was a solid starter for the Bengals
OG- Tony Hills, Steelers reject, one man’s floor is another man’s ceiling.
TE- Donald Lee, experienced with good hands.

Defense
DE- Igor Olshansky, has played well for the Bolts and the Boys, a salary casualty.
DE- Ogemdi Nwagbuo, productive and popular player for San Diego last season.
DT- Tommie Harris, Colts cut of the long time Bear was a bit of a surprise.
DT- Anthony Bryant, 6-3, 360 lb. nose from the Redskins is 29 and still has juice.
LB- Clint Ingram, started 46 games for the Jags but, was cut by the Saints
LB- Tavares Gooden, Ravens Lewis tutored his fellow Miami alum.
LB- Xavier Adibi, a 4th round pick of the Houston Texans.
DB- Lito Sheppard, been in the Pro Bowl.
DB- Crezdon Butler, 2nd year player for the Steelers looked solid in the preseason.
DB- Brandon Ghee, 3rd round pick of the Bengals in the 2010 draft.
S- Brandon Meriweather, 27 yr. old two time Pro Bowler, drafted by Pioli in N.E..
S- Marlin Jackson, used to start for the Colts but, can’t make the Eagles roster because of some kind of Dream team log jam.

KR- Brandon Tate
P- Jeremy Kapinos, Steelers.
K- Shayne Graham, cut by Cowboys, been around the league, experienced.

Side note: during the “making” of this team I noticed that the most difficult positions to fill were the OT and the LB positions. Here’s hoping the Chiefs can get something going on the OL.

Anyone you’d like to add to… or cut from… the Sharpest Cuts?
