Chiefs Roster Cuts Coming Today

Yesterday the Kansas City Chiefs waived seven players on their way to trimming their roster to the required 80 players.

As it stands right now, they still need to cut two players by 3PM central time today.

What you should really be keeping an eye on, however, are the names of players cut by other teams. Teams all over the league will not only release bottom of the barrel guys who can’t really play, they will also cut olde,r high priced veterans who still can. Teams cut ties with these veterans for various reasons. The chief reason tends to be money. If a team is loaded at a position and they have a young talent ready to step forward, the team will often cut the veteran in favor of moving forward with the younger and cheaper player. The Chiefs made a similar move earlier this offseason by cutting Brian Waters.

There is a chance that the Chiefs could be interested in some of the guys cut by other teams. If that is the case, the team could make cuts after the 3PM deadline as they make room for new players. Stay tuned.
