8th Circuit Court Rules NFL Lockout Is Legal

Uh-oh!

According to various sources, the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled and has overturned Judge Susan Nelson’s ruling that the NFL lockout is illegal.

We have no word yet on the details of the ruling but these developments could throw a major wrench into the labor negotiations. The 8th Circuit had told both parties that it would be best for them to strike a deal on their own because the ruling the court could eventually hand down could be unfavorable to both.

The owners and players appeared to take the advice to heart and resumed aggressive negotiations. It appeared that both sides were committed to getting a new deal done, perhaps by the end of this week. This ruling, however, could change the landscape dramatically. It will be impossible to tell how this will effect matters until we find out the details of the ruling.
