Sponsored Post: Bulleit Releases New Rye

Last week I was fortunate enough to attend the launch of a new American Rye from the good folks at Bulleit.
Bulleit has been making bourbon (one of my celebratory drinks of choice when the Chiefs score a touchdown) for 150 years.
After all that time, Bulleit has decided to add a new addition to their lineup with the launch of Bulleit Rye.
The launch party I went to last week involved a tasting for the media. Being a big fan of whiskey’s, I was excited to see what Bulleit came up with.
The tasting notes that were given to the media claimed a nose of biscuit and spice. I found the Rye to be more heavy on the spice, which I really enjoyed.
As far as taste, the flavor profile given to us claimed “a smooth entry, bolstered by sweet tones of maple and oak.” While every person is bound to taste a good whiskey a little differently, I found Bulleit’s claims to be pretty on the mark. The rye did have a nice, smooth entry and I found that it came back with a nice smoky flavor as it rolled down the back of the tongue and I tasted the strong hints of oak. I also noticed some subtle notes of cherry.
For me, where the rye really shinned was as a mixer, in particular, in Bulleit’s version of the Manhattan.
All in all, I though the rye showed some nice versatility both at a sipping whiskey and as a mixer. You could definitely taste the quality and there was no harsh burning aftertaste that you can get with so many bottom shelf whiskeys.
I had a great time at the launch and if you are a fan of whiskey’s, I suggest you check out Bulleit’s latest offering.
Obviously this recommendation is only for our adult readers. As always, make sure you drink responsibly. We thank Bulleit for being a supporter of Arrowhead Addict and a friend of FanSided.com.
More Notes: Bulleit Rye us a straight rye whiskey, offering a 95% rye mash whiskey (5% malted barley) which makes it among the highest American rye whiskey’s on the market.
