Report: Chiefs To Visit With USC Tackle Tyron Smith
According to the National Football Post, the Kansas City Chiefs will visit with USC OT Tyron Smith.
The report also mentions a slew of other teams that will meet with Smith, including the Redskins, Cowboys, Browns, Vikings and Bucs.
Smith is a first round prospect and is rated as the second best OT in the draft by NFL Draft Scout.
It is no real surprise to me that the Chiefs are going to take a closer look at Smith. He didn’t work out at the combine because of an injury. The Chiefs are doing alright at the tackle positions but Branden Albert and Barry Richardson certainly aren’t world beaters. While I think the Chiefs have more pressing needs along the offensive line other than tackle, Smith would be a steal if he was still on the board when KC picks at #21. Due diligence and all that.
We’ll take a close look at Smith tomorrow. For now, be sure to check out our Chiefs Draft Interests page. Simply click on the players name to get a close look at the prospect. make sure you are prepared for draft day!
