Matt Cassel Is Questionable vs. Rams
The Kansas City Chiefs have released their official injury report for Sunday’s critical game against the St. Louis Rams and QB Matt Cassel is listed as questionable.
Cassel practiced for the third straight day since having his appendix removed. The reports out of practice are that Cassel looked the best he has since returning to action, throwing the ball with better velocity and demonstrating solid footwork.
Our old friend Bob Gretz of BobGretz.com has a nice (free) rundown over at his site.
After reading Bob’s report and knowing the significance of Sunday’s game I don’t see how there is any way Cassel doesn’t play. Short of his stomach opening up and his guts spilling out onto the field, he is going to give it a go. His being limited these last three days was probably more about getting him used to the discomfort and avoiding inflaming the area around the wounds than Cassel not being able to go through every drill.
The Chiefs will likely give him some pretty good pain killers and the only thing I would worry about on Sunday is rust.
The Chiefs will likely drag this out until the last minute to gain even the smallest advantage over the Lambs.
