The Kansas City Chiefs announced today that they have signed CB Mike Richardson.
Richardson, a 2006 6th-round pick of the New England Patriots is rejoining the team after being cut in early September. Richardson was also with the team in 2009.
To make room for Richardson, the Chiefs cut rookie LB Justin Cole. Cole has not been active for any of KC’s games this season.
Sigh. You can’t really like this news. With CB Brandon Flowers’ injury status up in the air, it can’t be a good sign that the Chiefs are still signing CB’s off the street. Especially with game against pass happy Denver and San Diego on the horizon.
There is also the possibility that Richardson is being brought in because of an injury to Jackie Bates, who was working in place of Flowers last week against the Seahawks. Bates got a little dinged up and left the game with a knee injury.
The Chiefs will practice later today so we’ll get word of Flowers’ status then.
Stay tuned…
