Chiefs’ WR Dexter McCluster Showing Improvement

The Kansas City Chiefs have been without one of their most versatile offensive weapons for two games.

That may be about to change.

Reports from the media portion of practice are coming in and the word on the street is that WR Dexter McCluster is still limited but is participating in individual drills. This is a big step forward for McCluster who has been pretty much just standing around playing catch since he went down with an ankle injury in the team’s victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Nick Wright of 610 Sports reported some time ago that McCluster has a high ankle sprain and that he would miss several weeks.

Chances are the Chiefs are testing McCluster’s ankle out today to see how it responds. The Chiefs could use McCluster to help spark their recently anemic offense but the team likely doesn’t want to rush him back and risk doing further damage to the injured ankle.

If I had to guess I would say that even if McCluster’s ankle responds well he will be a game time decision. If the ankle doesn’t respond well then McCluster is likely to sit out another week.
